SOS Online Backup has partnered with Wiley Publishing (known for their “dummies” books) and 4D Global Partners (marketing several other “for dummies” products) to market SOS’ Online Backup product under the label Online Backup for Dummies.
The software appears to offer the same features as the normal SOS product; there are two versions available. The business version offers 150 GB of storage space for $99.95 per month, or $995 per year; the version for personal use starts at $19.95 per year for a 2 GB account, $29.95 for 5 GB and $49.95 for 15 GB. All versions have a 14 day free trial available.
The personal version is priced the same as the normal SOS product; those interested in the business version can get more options when using SOS Online Backup, which offers storage amounts from 500 MB to 200 GB.
The “for dummies” brand might appeal to some consumers; but a 2GB account with a simple interface can be had for free from Mozy, and for business accounts shopping around for the right combination of required features and pricing is strongly recommended as well.
