Xyratex announces preliminary revenue for Q3 2009

Xyratex reported today that it expects revenue for its fiscal 2009 third quarter ended August 31, 2009 to be approximately $247 million. Their CEO is pretty pleased with this figure:

“The third quarter benefitted from better than expected sales across our product and customer portfolio, indicating improvements in the overall economy and the relative strength of the storage industry” said Steve Barber, CEO of Xyratex. “Additionally, I was pleased with our execution in reducing costs while at the same time meeting the demand requirements of our customers.”

This is a year-on-year drop of about 12%, from $280 million in Q3 of last year. In that quarter, GAAP net income was $7.8 million. Last quarter GAAP net loss was $9.6 million on revenues of $194.7 million. More information about their Q3 results will be available on Wednesday, September 30, 2009 and there will be a conference call to discuss the results at 2:00 p.m. PT/5:00 p.m. ET on that day.
