McAfee offering branded Mozy online backup client

McAfee has added a new product to their security tools lineup; an online backup client based on the Mozy backup software. Apart from the McAfee branding, the features appear identical: unlimited backup storage for a single PC. The announcement is up both on the McAfee website and Mozy’s blog.

I’m sure they didn’t mean it this way, but it looks like McAfee is calling Mozy “the worlds largest dedicated security company”. Their press release contains this exact statement (emphasis added):

In case of a catastrophe or device failure, consumers’ files are safely encrypted and stored on a secure remote server online by the world’s largest dedicated security company. The files are easily retrievable with just a few clicks.

The McAfee service is nearly 10% more expensive than Mozy’s own version: McAfee charges a fixed $59.99 per year, while Mozy offers a month off their $4.95 per month fee when paying yearly.
