Buffalo technology is just days behind Freecom in announcing its first USB 3.0 external hard drive. Their first entry in this new market is the DriveStation HD-HXU3; a 3.5 inch drive available in 1, 1.5 and 2TB models.

Hot on the heals of OWC, Buffalo Technology is now offering a USB-powered Solid State Drive as well. The SHD-PE drive comes in three colors (red, white and black) and three sizes (32, 64 and 128 GB). It contains some interesting notions about storage systems. In case you never heard of Buffalo: they are “a global leader in the design, development and manufacturing of wired and wireless networking, network and direct attached storage solutions”. For a global leader in storage solutions, I’m a bit surprised to hear that a disk failure is an “unlikely event”.
