Isilon Systems is adding Solid State Drives to their S- and X-series products. Unlike other manufacturers, Isilon is specifically targeting SSDs for use in metadata storage; apparently these are currently a bottleneck in some systems.

Isilon has managed to reach the 119th place in this years list of the fastest growing tech companies. The list is based on the revenue growth over the last five years; during that period, Isilon has seen revenue grow by 1,395 percent. Isilon’s CEO, Sujal Patel, offered the obligatory quote for their press release: “Traditional NAS [...] With VMworld starting next week, there’s lots of virtualization-related storage news. Year-on-year revenue is up 3%, increasing from $28.2 million in the second quarter of 2008 to $29.0 million.
